Proposal Changes to allow Tattoo Parlors in Battle Creek, MI

Posted by on April 29, 2011

I found an article from titled  City looks at allowing tattoo parlors downtown. The first thing that ran through my head was “Nice” they are finally looking at Tattoo Parlors as being a legitimate business. A way to bring income into the city and not just as some thorn in the cities side where the unwanted go to brand themselves. Then I started thinking about how more and more people are getting tattoos and that tattoos are more accepted in society today then in the past.  But putting that aside it is nice that it is now being recognized as a way to bring in more revenue in for the city.

What got me really questioning the motive behind the sudden interest  is that Cheryl Beard, director of commercial development for Battle Creek Unlimited,  was not aware of the restrictions until someone was interested in opening a shop downtown.  That is when my head started spinning with questions, like who is this individual that wanted to open the parlor and was it someone Cheryl knew? Is that the reason behind the sudden interest? I kind of get a little on edge when it is an official of the city who suddenly has taken an interest in this once forbidden topic. I don’t know about you folks but I would like to know just who the person is that wants to open a shop in  down town Battle Creek, MI .  But like always you take the good with the bad, and chalk it up a win, win situation.

Now the comments got to me though and you to review them and let me know  your thoughts and even to comment on the article itself. Look at the comments being made on the website itself about this article. One person goes as far as to put a Tattoo parlor in the same class as a strip club or adult book store(nothing wrong with ether of them). No one in the Tattoo parlor is lap dancing for money. This one-sided thinking is not only humorous but also makes me ask, where is this person coming from?  It is strange how people don’t want to be judged or mocked for their personal beliefs and choices but turn around and make such outrageous statements. I don’t know people what are your thoughts? Let me know!
